T. albopilosus is a species of tarantula commonly referred to as the curly hair tarantula. It is native to Central America, particularly Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala, and can be found in rainforests, savannas, and semi-arid regions.
As their name suggests, curly hair tarantulas have a coat of dense, curly hair covering their bodies and legs, which makes them look cute and cuddly - and they are relatively docile compared to other tarantula species. They have a distinct black and tan pattern on their bodies, with a lighter colored abdomen. Females can grow up to 6 inches in leg span, while males are generally smaller.
In captivity, curly hair tarantulas are popular as pets because they are relatively low-maintenance, and can live for up to 20 years when properly cared for. They thrive in an environment with humidity between 65-75%, and their diet consists of insects such as crickets and mealworms.
